GA bike summit
GA bike summit
A registered 501(c)3 nonprofit formed in 2003, Georgia Bikes! is a statewide advocacy organization with representation from cycling clubs and advocacy groups across the state. Georgia Bikes! works to educate elected officials, government agencies, consulting and engineering firms, and developers about improved policy and expanded facilities for safer bicycling. Georgia Bikes! also works to educate children, the general public, law enforcement officials, and cyclists about bicycle rights, responsibilities, and safety, while encouraging bicycling for health, recreation, transportation, and economic development.
Andy Clarke was appointed to the position of Executive Director of the League of American Bicyclists in April of 2004 after successfully leading efforts to create, interpret and implement the various transportation programs that are available to improve conditions for bicycling and walking as the League’s State and Local Advocacy Director. Clarke has managed a range of bicycle and pedestrian planning projects at the state and metropolitan levels and has worked extensively with state and local advocacy groups.
The first Georgia Bike Summit will bring together advocates, business leaders, on-road and off-road recreational cyclists and commuters, elected officials and staff from across Georgia to meet in a state-wide forum, setting the stage for bicycling gains. We will network, collaborate, educate, and empower advocates and attendees; identify common issues in our local communities; and set priorities for Georgia Bikes in 2011.
